Suunto Watch

Thank you Bryce! I received the greatest gift yesterday. It is a super-watch. It can do everything from keeping track of my heart rate to telling me when I am in the right training zone. This watch is like a personal trainer and I am so excited to use it. Oh, and it tells time too (but who cares about that?) For anyone interested, it is called the Suunto t1 trainer. I will post updates periodically about how it is treating me and if I would recommend it.

Juno

This is a funny, quit whit movie that really had me laughing. Unfortunately I am not sure what happened the last twenty or so minutes due to a bad DVD. Juno? (Do you know) Man that was funny eh?

Whats better than pie?

Marie Calendar's pies were on sale, buy one get one free, and we can never resist when we see a yummy deal like that so we bought two. When I got home from school Bryant had posted this picture on my desktop. I think he was a little upset but was trying to make the best of losing our key lime pie. Sure made me laugh!

Finals week

Ughh! I can not wait for this week to be over. I totally forgot how stressful college life is during finals week. School is making my brain hurt, although I am learning in bio-psychology that it is increasing my dendrite connections in my brain which is a good thing. I just want to set my alarm for Tuesday of next week and go to bed. Wake me up when its over.

That being said I am really excited about these new additions.

Sally - Baby boy due in August
Anna - Baby boy due in June

Good luck to you moms. I hope you stay craving free, agreeable, and comfortable.

Movies

I just watched a movie this week called Kite Runner. This movie really pulls at your heart strings. It is about a couple of boys in Afghanistan and spans from 1978-2000. At times I wanted to get into the show and give one of the boys a good talking to. It was hard to just be still and watch, it's one of those movies you want to get involved in. I realize it was just a movie but it was a story that really could have happened. The characters seem real. The story could be real. This is a movie I would recommend you watch.

Learning to Read

I am so proud of Jaren. He read his first book today. Start to finish, word for word, without my help. I even took the pictures away on the opposite side of the page and mixed up which page went first and he still read it word for word. What a big boy!

Sunday breakfast

So every Sunday our family gets up and we make German pancakes for breakfast. This is something we all look forward to. Who doesn't love anything you can smother in syrup and powdered sugar? Anyway this got me thinking about what other families might do. I would love to hear about your family traditions. Bring them on!

Pre-training

The goal for my pre-training is to run 30 minutes without stop. I have done this in the past and it has not been to terribly challenging but something seems different. I can't put my finger on it. I am much slower this year than I have been in the past and it is quite a push to run 20 minutes straight. I am not sure if it is a mind or body thing. Any thoughts?

Education- a link to spiritual development

I was reading from this months Ensign and found an article that really got to me. I am in my junior year at Weber State University and am struggling with the many things on my plate. I know that Bryant has felt overwhelmed with my schedule at times too.

Today I read an article written by Michael Morris from the Church Magazines about a group of tutors in Washington D.C. One of the two passages that hit was "Intellectual development is a key to spiritual development..." I hadn't thought of it this way but it help me come to terms with why my education is so important to me. I have been fighting for it but my reasons seemed hollow. Now it makes better sense why I feel such a passion to grow intellectually.

Also at the end of the article it quotes President Hinckley, "Education is the key which will unlock the door of opportunity, and the Lord has laid upon you the responsibility to secure an education." I feel this so strongly. I love learning! Yes, at times it is overwhelming and tiring but the benefits far out weigh any negatives. I know that I will not only gain worldly knowledge by continuing my education but that what I learn here in this life will follow me to the next.

Irony in Customer Service

We were at the grocery store last night picking up late night junkies. Which by the way if anyone is interested in something fun to do on a Saturday night, Smiths on Harrison Blvd seems to be a hot spot. We ran into half our rolodex! Anyway, we are in the store wandering around aimlessly looking for something that hits the spot when we hear an announcement over the loud speaker.

"Customer service to...customer service please."

We couldn't stop laughing.

Running a Marathon

I am just starting training for a marathon. I will be running the Park City Marathon in Aug 08. I got this grand idea from Katrine Smith. I was reading her blog and felt really inspired. She is probably finding out by reading this because I didn't actually tell her. I talked to her sister (and my good friend Anna) and found out what book she used and bought it. I am really excited and looking forward to the challenge.

Anyone who wants to run it with me is welcome to join the program. I am starting the actual 16 week training program the week of May 4th. I am in the pre-training part right now. The book is called "The Non-Runner's Marathon Trainer."

I already enlisted my husband and am working on another friend who sounds like she is up for the challenge . I think the bigger support network I can make for myself the better chance I have of accomplishing my goal. So if anyone is interested please let me know.

Plagarism

Ok, I have to admit I got our title and idea for our blog from a friend. Anna Marie is quite creative and reading her blog gave me the idea for our family blog. There you go, I am not original. I am however great at adapting and morphing others ideas into something new and making it my own.

Being an A student, I am quite concerned about my grades. Therefore, if anyone (meaning Anna Marie) feels plagiarized please inform me asap and I will reinvent my outline. I do not want a failing grade!

Something New

Well I think its about time I joined the fun of blogging. Bryant is usually the one who does this sort of thing, it being his background and all, but why should he have all the fun right? Right! So here is my attempt to blog.

Thanks to those who have inspired me by setting up their family blogs. Wouldn't have felt the pressure without ya. How can I ever repay you the favor? Kidding, I am looking forward to this and it will be a good way to journal some things that might otherwise never be said. (We'll see later down the road if that is a good thing or not.)
